5th Festina 6/12/24h Biketrophy: Report

10th September
10:00 – the adventure starts in Groß Enzersdorf. First challenge: get the equipment and men into the van.

17:30 - Arrival: tension and excitement are in the air. Setup of the drivers area and tactical thoughts around the best tentplace fill the evening.

11th September
07:00 - after a short and cold night the first sunrays wake us up - perfect race weather. The first driver prepares already two hours before the start and warms up on the  barrel.

10:30 - finally race start. The nervousness gets lost and all work for the driver and his following cycler.

12:30 - after two hours the first exchange in the small and narrow exchange-zone - not an easy task. Until night everything runs smooth.

18:30 - the lights get set up. The night starts: the first driver gets into the wet and cold tent after an exhausting race-period.

12th September
01:00 - getting back on the bike – what a pain. The longer the night the more the exhausting hours show their effect - the speeds gets slower and the legs heavier.

05:00 - the morning wakes the motivation again and new unknown power arises. The last driver gets on the bike and the motivation is great. We encourage the driver and hand him drinks and gels.

10:30 - after 24 hours it is a great feeling to finish – all team mebers together - one experience richer.

For team GOFG it is clear that this was not the last race. The planning for next year has already started at gofg.at !
We hope for ongoing support from our sponsors and counselors.
