Neusiedlersee cycle marathon 2011

On May 1st 2011 two cyclist, Andreas Hafner and Wolfgang Koller, of Team GOFG participated in the Neusiedlersee cycle marathon.

We started very well in the race and used the first kilometers to stay calm and try to avoid hectic situations with other drivers. All the way through Hungary we made good progress and after about 65km and back in Austria we stopped at the first supply post. After taking a short break we started back again in the race. We now made very good progress even though we had quite strong wind.

Soon we reached the second supply post which was about 100km. We only took a short break and headed back to finish the last 25km. When leaving the supply post it started raining which soon turned into hail. We decided to speed up and reached an average of about 40km/h on the last part of the route. Luckily it stopped hailing (thought it was still raining heavily).

Totally soaked we reached the finish line after 04:14:39 - which makes an average of 29,45km/h, including breaks. After all a great success for our Team.
